On February 21, 2008 a round table on “The Role of the Custodian Bank in the Fully Funded Pension Insurance in the Republic of Macedonia” was held at the premises of the Chamber of Commerce of Macedonia. The event was organized by the USAID’s Business Environment Activity and the Agency for Supervision of Fully Funded Pension Insurance - MAPAS.

The round table discussed the relevance and the growing role of the pension funds in the development of the capital market in the Republic of Macedonia and in the recent establishment of investment funds, as there is a need for the development of the custodian function as one of the new financial services offered by banks.

Round table presentations were held by Croatian experts, representatives of the banking sector in the Republic of Macedonia and by representatives of the Macedonian Securities Exchange Commission, the Macedonian Stock Exchange, the Central Depositary for Securities, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, the Ministry of Finance and the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia.
