Business Environment Activity and USAID’s e-Gov project have publicly promoted the software application that will enable companies apply for import, export and transit licenses electronically. The application is part of the Single Window border crossing system, which will be implemented by Macedonian Customs Administration shortly.

The software application was presented on July 8 2008 at the Parliamentary Club in Skopje. USAID’s Mission Director, Patricia Rader, who addressed the audience, said that the new system will bring greater efficiency to movement of goods across borders and will make Macedonia more attractive to investors. The Single Window system is sophisticated electronic software comprised of several modules, including the Module for applications for licenses, Module for digital certificates, Reports’ Module and Module for digital signature. The system will be available 24/7 and will save time and expenses to companies. It will be able to follow the issuing of requests and licenses in electronic way.
