USAID Business Environment Project has organized the third workshop on establishing a Public-Private Partnership Department within the Ministry of Economy.

Thirty-five participants from different municipalities, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Economy participated in the two-day workshop held on September 24 and 25 in Skopje.

The main objectives of the workshop were presentation of the goals and methodology of PPP projects, presentation of the methodology for evaluation of PPP projects in accordance with the Macedonian legislation, presentation of the regulation on the format and the content of reports on concession contracts or reports on canceled procedure, presentation of fundamental elements that a PPP development strategy should include, etc. Mr. Peter Snelson, PPP expert (Director, Transport Solutions, Atkins, UK), and Ms. Regina Cablitz from Germany, presented international PPP experiences and practice at the workshop. (Atkins is the largest Engineering Consultancy in UK, largest multi-disciplinary consultancy in Europe, fifth largest international design firm, and a leading provider of technical services.) Prof. Vanco Uzonov, PhD and Mr. Miroslav Trajanovski, local expert in economy and law presented the specifics of PPP approach in Macedonia.
