USAID’s Business Environment Activity in collaboration with the Macedonian Lawyers Association, on September 28th 2007, organized a workshop on: Debts securities in the Republic of Macedonia. The workshop was held in the hotel Sredno Vodno in Skopje
Participants on the workshop were lawyers from Macedonian companies and banks, representatives of the units of the local self – governance from Bitola, Veles, Struga and Strumica. Around 20 representatives of the mentioned institutions were present
The following topics were covered on the workshop:
- Debt securities – theory and regulative in the Republic of Macedonia – Ph.D. Vesna Pendovska, professor on the Faculty of Law by the University St. Cyrill and Methodius
- Public securities in the Republic of Macedonia, Maja Parnaxieva, Head of the sector for management of public debt in the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Macedonia
- Corporate bonds (theory and preconditions), Ph.D. Vesna Pendovska, Aneta Trajanovska, director of the sector for approvals and licenses of the Securities Exchange Commission
- Municipal bonds (theory and preconditions), - Maja Parnaxieva
After each topic, there were discussions on the subject, such as: Is there a need of changing the regulative for the debt securities, did the public securities in the Republic of Macedonia fulfill the preconditions for the appearance of other debt securities in the country, when will the corporate and municipal bonds become a reality in the Republic of Macedonia.
