From September 3, through September 5 forty representatives from the commercial banks were trained in the basics of Credit Risk Management. BEA in cooperation with the National Bank of Macedonia engaged Mr. Carl Spilker, Director of Credit and Unsecured credit at Lloyds TSB- London, UK, to deliver three days workshop, which included: Current lending mechanisms in Macedonia and credit risk management regulations; foundations of credit process, with reference to character lending, financial statement analysis, credit memorandum elements, guarantees and loan approval process; underwriting of specific types of credits and Credit management (loan agreements, documentation review, risk grading, loan reviews).
Commercial banks’ representatives had the opportunity to improve their knowledge in Credit Risk Management and thus be able to up-grade their internal risk management procedures in accordance with the Law on Banks and the related regulation. Taught by an international credit risk expert, this workshop was developed to provide participants with understanding of credit risk regulations, portfolio monitoring, risk ratings as well as credit risk approval process and loan reviews. The workshop participants were awarded with certificates of completion of the course.
