The National Campaign "STOP for grey conomy employment" supported by USAID Business Environment activity officially started on September 13th 2007

On September 13th, in the premises of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia, officially was promoted the national campaign “STOP for grey economy employment”, that will be implemented by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy and the Federation of Trade unions of Macedonia, and supported by USAID’s Business Environment Activity (Task D).

The main objective of this campaign is strengthening of the awareness of employees and employers for the need of legalization of the economic activity and employment status of the workers. The campaign will ephasize the importance of implementation of the measures from the GOM Action plan for the grey economy, monitoring of the labor legislation enforcement and the use of the drastic penalties in the cases of labor laws abuses.

The promotion was opened by the Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Mr. Ljupco Meskov. The other speakers were the president of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia, Mr. Vanco Muratovski, the president of the Confederation of Employers of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Mile Boskov.



The official start of the National Campaign “STOP for grey economy employment”

The campaign will extend until the end of 2007, and it will include 9 roundtables, brochure which will include the standard form of employment contract and the rights and obligations of the employer and employees from a working relation, lefleats, posters, TV and radio programs in live talk shows, as well as announcements in the press.

Representatives from the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Local Self-Government, the Organization of Employers of Macedonia, the State Labor Inspectorate, Employment Service Agency of the Republic of Macedonia and the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia will be actively involved in the implementation of the campaign.

There was a high presence of journalists from the electronic media and the press. They had the opportunity to ask various questions.
