BEA has completed the second feasibility study on public-private partnership (PPP). It was a project aimed at solving the waste management problems in the Municipality of Struga.

The Municipality of Struga is facing the problem of inefficient delivery of one of the crucial public services - waste treatment. To improve the service, the municipality asked for BEA support in implementing a feasibility study for financing the delivery of this service through a public-private partnership. The study was conducted in the first half of 2009 in cooperation with the Analyzes and Advisory Group (AAG). It included a thorough assessment of the financial standing of the public communal enterprise in Struga and has concluded with a suggestion to deliver a concession to a private partner to manage the waste treatment. The study was officially delivered to the Mayor of Struga by BEA’s Director, Aleksandar Shahov on July 31.
