The USAID’s Business Environment Activity (BEA) and the Municipality of Gjorche Petrov signed earlier today a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for execution of a public-private partnership (PPP) pilot project. Being part of BEA’s comprehensive efforts to promote PPP as a model of financing the local development, this project will include preparation of a feasibility study that will analyze the viability of the proposed ideas before proceeding with implementation of the PPP. BEA’s ultimate goal is to contribute to the improvement of the business environment in the Gjorche Petrov community.

Activities foreseen with the MoU will focus on determining the level of efficiency of the public – private partnership, particularly in the financial (budget) area. The study will outline in depth whether use of PPP could be justified or not, and will provide suggestions about the optimal methods of financing municipal capital projects. The Mayor and his managerial staff from the Municipality are looking forward to cooperating with BEA in all phases of the agreed cooperation and learn more about decision making and successful execution of PPP projects.
